Our Chosen Charities
We asked each of our chosen charities to write a small section about the important work that they undertake and the impact that donations and support have on their operations. This is what they had to say:
Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance has been saving lives across the local community for 25 years, bringing the hospital to the patient when every second counts. The enhanced skills of our team, specialist equipment and drugs that we carry, along with the speed of our response, is often the difference between life and death.
Our team of highly skilled pilots, critical care practitioners and doctors are operational for 19 hours a day (7.00am-2.00am), 365 days a year. The care that we provide is only made possible because of people like you, as every mission and every life saved is funded by charitable giving.
Last year alone, our service responded to 2,954 emergency incidents, with each mission costing around £3,500. Without any direct government or National Lottery funding, it’s the generosity of our community that keeps us in the air and ready to save lives.
South Western Ambulance Charity

For over 30 years the South Western Ambulance Charity has been working alongside the South Western Ambulance Service, and local communities, to help enhance care and support for staff and patients, in critical moments.
The Charity supports staff health and well-being, helps to equip dedicated volunteer Community First Responders and takes action to help communities be better prepared to respond to lifesaving emergencies such as cardiac arrests.
Weldmar Hospicecare

Weldmar Hospicecare is here for people across Dorset providing specialist care for adults with a life-limiting illness, and support for their loved-ones, too. We provide end of life care that’s about dignity, comfort, and making every moment truly matter.
Although we have our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester providing end of life care for patients, the majority of people we support choose to be cared for at home, where dedicated Weldmar Community Nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists visit with compassion and kindness, helping patients and families feel less alone on their journeys.
Weldmar must raise an incredible £27,500 every single day to keep our care free for all those who need it. By supporting this event, you’re helping to bring comfort, hope, and precious moments to families right here in the local community.
Police Care UK

Police are facing trauma every day.
As one of the hardest jobs, police around the country put themselves at serious risk every day in the line of duty, working tirelessly to keep the public safe, often in the most traumatic of circumstances.
On a regular basis, they have to deal with serious road traffic collisions, unnatural deaths, incidents involving children, terrorism, violent assaults and other emergencies. Over time, this frequent exposure to traumatic events has an impact, and many will go on to develop psychological issues such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Police Care UK helps people take their lives back.
We’re a charity dedicated to supporting people who’ve been physically or psychologically harmed through their work in police service. Serving and veteran officers, staff, volunteers, and their families all benefit from our services, and we receive no government funding.
