We're Jake and Chris, two friends from the South Western Ambulance Service, based at Weymouth Ambulance Station.
We decided to swap our day jobs and organise a charity football match to raise money and save lives! We are aware of the difficulties that charities close to our hearts are experiencing with the 'cost of living' and wanted to find a fun way to raise money for charity, get the community involved, and that's how this whole crazy idea was born.
When we first came up with the plan, Jake was all in, ready to play 100% and show off his (questionable) skills on the pitch. Chris, on the other hand, watched a YouTube video on the "offside rule" and still came away scratching his head. Chris wisely decided to stick to organising and occasionally run around on training days. When he saw the size of the pitch Jake decided to opt for cardio instead of weights for the foreseeable future.
Living and working in Weymouth, we have strong ties to our community. We've seen firsthand the incredible difference that our chosen charities make, not just for the public but for us in the emergency services too. This event is our way of giving back and supporting those who are always there when we need them.
